Cookie Policy
Effective January 1, 2026
This page explains what cookies are, which ones we use on Citty.rent, and how you can take charge of them.
What is a cookie, anyway?
A cookie is a tiny text file that a website saves in your browser. It lets the site remember you between visits — your preferred language, your login session, what you put in your shopping cart, that kind of thing. Some cookies are essential. Others, you can turn off.
The cookies we use
1. Strictly necessary (always on)
These keep the site working. Without them, you couldn't log in or complete a booking. We don't ask permission for these because the law doesn't require it.
| Cookie | What it does | How long it lasts |
|---|---|---|
PHPSESSID | Keeps you logged in during your visit | Session only |
citty_lang | Remembers your language | 1 year |
cookie_consent | Remembers your cookie choices | 1 year |
2. Analytics (we ask first)
These help us see what's working and what isn't on the site — anonymously.
| Service | Cookie | What it does | How long |
|---|---|---|---|
| Google Analytics 4 | _ga, _ga_* | Page views, traffic sources | 2 years |
| Yandex Metrika | _ym_* | Heatmaps, scroll depth | 1 year |
3. Marketing (we ask first)
If you opt in, these let us measure ad performance and show you relevant ads on other sites.
| Service | What it does |
|---|---|
Google Ads (_gcl_*) | Tracks which ads led to bookings |
Meta Pixel (_fbp) | Facebook and Instagram retargeting |
How to manage your cookies
The first time you visit the site, you'll see a banner with three choices: Accept all, Necessary only, or Customize. You can change your mind whenever you want:
- Reset your cookie preferences — opens the banner again
- Wipe cookies through your browser settings: Chrome, Firefox, Safari
- Block Google Analytics specifically: install Google's opt-out browser extension
If you turn analytics and marketing off
Nothing breaks. The site still works, you can still book a car. We just won't know which pages you visited or how you found us, which means it's a bit harder for us to improve the site.
